| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Bottle. Fruity malt aroma. Black body, small brown head. Flavor is much sweeter than expected, but by no means unpleasantly or overpoweringly so. Coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. A little bitterness in the finish. Excellent. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 22, 2009 In short: A sticky and syrupy little stout. No thanks.
How: Bottle 12oz, from JCB. Thanks a lot Jason. Consumed with a few weeks of receiving it (probably fresh)
The look: Black body topped by a very small beige head
In long: Taste has a lot of dark malts without developing chocolate or coffee flavours, just plain black malts. Some molasses and dark fruits concentrate. Body is annoyingly sticky with a tar texture/flavour. Roastiness kept to minimum, this one needed a lot more roastiness to dry it out. As it is it feels way way too sweet and syrupy. Totally lacking in the hops department, almost no hops presence save for a light green grass presence. A 6% stout should be very drinkable, this one is syrupy like a 11% impy stout but without the oomph of an impy stout. Named after a fish, that little animal that makes blind men all exited.
