The flavor however is present with a nice extra kick. However mouth feel is not quite as good as the Stout. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours opaque very dark brown, ruby around the edges, and a thin but nicely lacy tan head. Aroma has some fruity esters, chocolate, brown sugar, perhaps a touch of smoke. Medium body and active carbonation. The flavor is roasty, but otherwise picks up all the aroma notes. Lightly bitter finish. All in all, a pretty solid effort. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2008 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a semi-opaque except around the edges no visible carbonation dark brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt smoky and sweet. The thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The thick flavor contained notes of dark malt brown malt and chocolate. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA

Some floaters in this beer, which I like. Authentic. Expected something ultra-filtered. Aroma is good: warm chocolate coalescing with fresh apples. It’s an interesting mixture, and I like it. Flavor is very good, too. Roasted almonds, crisp green apples, chocolate, and distant coffee. Easy, fresh, smooth, and quite enjoyable. Very drinkable. bdigital (586), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Bottle: Pours a dark amber-brown with minimal tan head. Nose hints at brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts. Slightly smokiness comes through as it warms. Medium bodied mouth feel with good carbonation. Dry, roasted malt-based flavor with notes of chocolate, anise, and smoke. Very good stuff and will try to get my hands on some more of this. TyRip (40), Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a small head that stays as a ring with the rest of the beer. Smells of whiskey and a porter, I guess that’s where the scotch comes from. Taste is a moderate porter malt, with whiskey, some alcohol present in the background throughout, and enough hops to keep it clean and refreshing. Mouthfeel is a strong point, nice and smooth and never watery. The alcohol is very present in this beer for being at a fairly moderate level. I think it is more hidden in many beers with over 8%. Anyways, a good beer. Not my favorite porter, but a solid beer nonetheless. Collint (458), Sylva, North Carolina, USA
