Commercial Description:
Steelhead Scotch Porter is a unique twist on a tradional style. Balanced with dark roasted barley and crystal malts, with the perfect blend of peated malt for a subtle smokey flavor.

The aroma is nice with chocolate, roasted malt, and earthiness. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with lots of bitterness and only moderate sweetness. The palate is OK for the style. I am not terribly impressed by this but there is nothing wrong with it other than an astringent chemical taste that is really obvious in the finish.

pours dark with a nice tan head. the flavor is ok, but nothing that makes me say wow. dark roast malt flavor with a hint of the peated malt. so subtle as to not impress. very thin mouth feel. i want more from a porter than a hint, or even "perfect blend of peated malt" than this beer delivered. btw, the balance of this beer was dumped into the spare ribs we were making. maybe it will shine through better there.

My Scottish journey ends here. Pours a thick black color with a tannish head. Smoke is there, touches of molasses. Flavor is a lightly light, but having just finished an Old Chub may be the reason. Touches of "roastiness" peek through nicely. Palate is very thin to me, good brew overall.

This is a VERY GOOD beer. Similar to a Kostrizer in taste with deep, rich, chocolaty and toasty (and even smokey) flavors. Beer pours like a real beer should, thicker appearness like a Guiness, but with a frothy head. Definitely recommended for darker beer lovers.

Thick black pour on this body, with a tight, creamy tan head. Nose sweet maybe caramel, hints of smoke. Taste is big, full mouth here, with smooth chcolate, and a rolling coffee bitterness. This is a nice take on a porter. Big thanks to Saarlandrs and mystery 2.0.

This bottle looks like it is from the west, 12 oz brown with twist off cap. In a man like manner, twist off the cap and get a whiff of dark roasted malt. The color is opaque brown and when you taste it, the flavor of bittersweet chocolate sticks it’s happy head out.Not quite as imperial as other porters I’ve had but it definately packs a bitter burnt back of throat punch. Perhaps a little rude for my girlie taste buds. Alcohol seems like it is around 6%. Roasted and dark, appreciate the beauty. More personality than I would like. Bitter unsweetened chocolate or cold black coffee back of throat linger. Yuengy’s Black & Tan is refreshing if you use this scotch porter as a standard.

Pours dark brown with chocolate malt colored head that lasted all of one minute. The aroma comes out as sweet molasses, roasted malts, burnt malts and a hint of cedar planks. The flavors all seem to assault my senses at once with sweet molasses, burnt malts and chocolate malts. As the taste hits the midway point I notice the sweeter molasses note drops away leaving burnt and chocolate malts. A moment later I also get a hint of coffee. The finish is mild, roasty and somewhat sweet.

The color was deep chocolate with dark red hues. It is difficult to see because the beer is dark, but if you hold it up to a bright light, you are able to see a lot of small floating sediment. The head was thin, medium beige, and fizzy. The aroma molasses, sweet malt, caramel, and a little bit of an aged smell. The flavor was raosty, sweet/tart, and a little aged. The palate was smooth, medium bodied, and had nice carbonation. The finish was warm and roasty.
