| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Poured a very thick, opaque body with a fizzy gray-brown head. Sweet hickory flavor followed a hoppy/floral sucrosey nose. Lingering flavor of a dynamic porter. Crazy lacing and a full bodied beer overall. NICE! spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2007 Bottle from The_Epeeist. Coffee, and roasted malt aroma is very light. Deep brown body sports a fairly full palate. Tastes are slightly bitter roasted coffee and not much else. Very light flavor profile overall, but satisfying at the same time. emacgee (1891), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 17, 2007 Pours a basic porter brown. Slightly transparent in the light. The head was thin, tan, and gone fast. The aroma was very sweet and full, with caramel and light coffee. The flavor is malty, sweet, caramel, lacks the overall roast and character I would expect from the style. Not as good as the nose. The palate is a little sweet with an average finish. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Bottle: Nice and dark midnight crimson color with a thin but volcanic tan head. My first impression of the aroma was almost hoppy; the more I smell, I get more roasty java, but that floral hoppieness remains. Interesting. What a nice blend of flavors here ... lightly smoky and roasted malt to be sure, but there’s also additional aspects of lightly citric hoppiness, bitter nuttiness and even a little bitter chocolate. Outstanding porter. (#2753, 3/16/2007) AlabastorJones (765), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2007 black body, thin brown head, dry finish, dark chocolate, hint of scotch/bourbon flavor, not particularly ’scotchy’ but a nice well balanced porter just the same Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Not black as night. Pours a thin brown, but when it’s all contained in the drinking vessel of choice it takes on a deeper tone. Fizzy head looks nice while it lasts, which wasn’t long. Subtle roasty aroma with some extinguished fire smokiness. At first, I felt a little underwhelmed. But as I sip away, I grow a little more fond. Definitely quaffable and probably sessionable.
