Aroma is a bit weak, with only a faint hint of roasted malt and smoke. Flavor is more pronounced, with a sweet roasted beginning and a smooth smoky finish. Interesting combination...decent porter.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 10/10/2008 Some vanilla aroma. Beige head. Black and fruity with some alcohol present. A little dryness in a crisp and hoppy roast finish.

Richly brown, nearly black, with a slight tan head. Toasty, sweet, molasses aroma. Flavor was coffee and bitter chocolate, more toastiness. A very rich tasting beer. Smokiness is there but very muted, I had to search for it. It came out better once it had warmed up a bit. Body is robust and full. My first thought when I tried it was that it is almost a stout. Very complex and tasty, I would buy this again.

12oz bottle. Super dark reddish/brown color, light was barely peeking through, the head was a very creamy tan head. Medium roasty, light chocolate aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet, some toffee and a little coffee, slightly dry finish as well. Pretty good.

Not quite clear brown, with a thin tan head. Boozy, rummy aroma, with coffee notes. Flavor is a pretty nice mix of earthy, peaty flavors mixed with coffee and chocolate. Seems a little higher than 6.43%, actually. Nice mixing of flavors and pretty enjoyable.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a smallish, off-white head. Smell: Aroma of dark, roasty malts with notes of sweetened coffee and chocolate and, of course, the peat-laden smoked malts. Hint of dark, ripe fruits as well. Taste: Dark, roasted maltiness with some lesser toasted qualities and a crystal malt sweetness. Taste of morning coffee dosed with sugar and chocolate. Hint of dark fruitiness. Pleasant smoked maltiness with a distinct touch of peat. Mild hop character with the bulk of the relatively low bitterness coming through from the roasted barley. Roasty, sweetish finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Low, easy-going carbonation. Drinkability: A tasty, quaffable brew that takes a different spin on the humble porter. Why not give it a try?
