Jun 8, 2009 Bottle from Sam’s. Damn, this is good. More on the side of a Scotch ale than a porter, but it does have some porter-like qualities as well. Pour deep dark hazy amber-brown with a orange-beige head. Roasty malt and chocolate notes like a porter, but more of the peaty/smoky, even fruity notes of a scotch ale. Also a good spike of hops. Surprisingly light palate. I really like this unique brew.

Jun 6, 2009 $4 bottle at Zeke’s on Miami Beach. Slight sweetness- caramel and raisins. Dark roasty porter flavor, dry, some bitterness. Overall rather unglamorous.

May 23, 2009 This is a beer with a lot of flavor. It does not have superior aroma or an appearance that wows. But the brew is better than average for these areas. Nearly black with a modest head. Pleasant cocoa nose. Thin body with a high nearly soda pop-like carbonation. Nice blend of chocolate and mild bittering hop.

May 20, 2009 Very good porter. Pours dark brown almost black with thick tan head. Lots of yeast floating. Good roasted malt flavor with a little smokey choc. Overall very flavorful and worth drinking.

Apr 29, 2009 Pours very dark brown with a smallish tan head. Aroma is full of roasted malt and cocoa. Flavor is nice and roasty as well with notes of coffee and chocolate. Very good.

Apr 19, 2009 Nearly black, but with ruby highlights, one-finger head that dissipated to a thin film and left nice lacing. Smoky malt aromas with a bit of charcoal. Roasted coffee flavors are predominant, but share the profile with creamy mocha and fresh off the hearth firewood, probably attributable to the peated malt. Nice creamy mouthfeel, a hint of hops bitterness to balance the malts, but the roasted malts win out in the aftertaste. Good stuff.

Mar 30, 2009 Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Tan micro head with excellent retention leaves sheets as it recedes to coat surface. Dusty cocoa and peat aromas. Thin with upfront sweet caramel turning smoky and peaty in the lasting finish.
