Smoky malt aromas with a bit of charcoal. Roasted coffee flavors are predominant, but share the profile with creamy mocha and fresh off the hearth firewood, probably attributable to the peated malt. Nice creamy mouthfeel, a hint of hops bitterness to balance the malts, but the roasted malts win out in the aftertaste. Good stuff. Brewbie (228), New York, USA

Some roasted malt and a bit of smokiness but somewhat bland for a porter. Huge amounts of sediment in the bottle I had also. gwpom (253), Akron, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2009 12 oz bottle. I went with a six-pack as I love a good porter. The first bottle I opened was much as described earlier, smokey and a roasted aroma and flavor, no head at all... but there was a lot of yeast particle in this bottle floating around the glass. I know that’s not a bad thing, just unexpected. We’ll see how the rest of the sixer comes out for clarity. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA
