Indra (1888), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Apr 21, 2008 12oz. bottle. Aroma of dark fruits and lightly smoky malts, faintly sweet and peaty, showing some mild roast, chocolate, red grape, black cherry and raisin in the nose. Dark brown-black in color, forming a very slight head. Flavor is largely fruity and sweet, but features a nicely earthy, dark, roasty backdrop and a tangy, lightly bitter and drying peat finish. Lingering hints of chocolate and raisin. Gently acidic and smooth on the palate, body is medium-full. Interesting stuff, I’d wanted to try this for quite some time. Thanks to boboski!
Oscbert (328), Sacramento, California, USA Jan 4, 2009 ~Pours a dark brown with small off white head that last. Sediment chunks floating in beer, possibly yeast.
~Coffee and chocolate malt scent.
~Chocolate malt taste. A bit sugary.
~Creamy feel, sweet and bitter finish.
~Decent porter. Seemed to be a little above average to me. anders37 (2981), Malmö, Sweden Jan 2, 2009 Draft @ the brewery Taproom. Pours a hazy brown almost black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty slightly spicy coffee aroma with some hints of chocolate. Roasted malty coffee and chocolate flavor with some hints of smoke. Has a roasted malty slighlty smokey finish. LearninBeer (142), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Dec 15, 2008 The aroma is alcohol - scotch. The body is black with a light brown head, mostly diminishing with good lacing. The initial flavor is a touch sweet with a little bitter coming in after. Tastes of coffee, chocolate and a little roasty malt hits after, lots of flavor. The body is light to medium, the texture creamy, just a touch watery and the carbonation soft. BREWMUSKCLES (844), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Dec 13, 2008 pretty good body and beer profile that is hops and good malt - it is good in quantity and just lightly sweet and balanced with a proper smokey peat flavor that is light enough and buttery yet not butterscotch good moderate carbonation that is substantial yet soft. quite a fine scotch porter ballsy - yet dark and refined. brewski519 (77), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Dec 5, 2008 Poured a dark mahogony with a thin tan head and decent lacing. Smelled of chocolate malts, some peat, oatmeal and a little bit of smokiness. Tasted of the above along with a hint of pine and some spice - went down well. A decent thickness to the beer as well - not overly thin.
