12 oz bottle from Bier Stein. Pours a very dark brown with a moderate tan head and mild lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, peat and caramel. The flavor is a nice mix of smoke, caramel malt, chocolate, peat and light espresso. Thick, chewy mouthfeel that you can feel going down your throat and stomach. Quite a tasty and interesting brew.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a smallish, beige head. The aroma is dark, roasted malts with notes of sweetened coffee and chocolate along with some peaty smoked malts. There are slight touches of dark, ripe fruits as well. The flavor is more dark, roasted lesser maltiness with some moderate sweetness. Additional hints of coffee with cream, dark fruitiness, and a peaty smokiness. The hop character is light. Medium mouthfeel, decent beer.

In short: A greasy scotch ale clashing with a fruity porter. Too sweet.
How: Bottles 12oz. Consumed fresh soon after purchase. Tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Clear dark brown body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is full of caramel, butterscotch and milk chocolate. Taste is overly sweet. burnt caramel, dark fruits, some chocolate, butterscotch. No roastiness of hops to dry it out. I thought this was getting grosser and grosser with each sip. The flavours clash together more than they work together. A scotch porter, the best idea since the shrimp sundae.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 11/23/09

Aroma: The nose is mostly roasted malts with some sweet notes of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla as well
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a fizzy tan colored head, and it leaves some lace
Flavor: A nice roasted, malty flavor, light-medium sweet, light bitterness
Palate: Mouthfeel is pretty dry, somewhat oily texture, and medium body
Overall Impression: I couldn’t really figure out why they would call this a scotch porter, but it is a pretty decent porter. Beyond that, it is a nice beer, though not overly exciting, it does a good job of being simple and just plain working well, a nice beer for sure.

Deep brown, lasting thin beige head, light lacing. Aroma is sweet, lots of chocolate, light roast, milk. The flavour is of white sugar, chocolate, very light alcohol, some roasted malts, lactose. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, malt.

Was this supposed to taste of scotch or was it just in the name. Nice though.

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

On tap at Beachwood about a week ago. Poured a dark brown color with a small brown head. Aroma was very light surprisingly. Roasted malt and caramel. Flavor was very roasted and smokey, with some caramel notes. Aroma was a let down but flavor was nice.

Brown labeled bottle. Pours a dark brown head with a small ring of a head and a small floating island of film. nose is malty and chocolatey. Palate is full and fluffy. Flavor is very heavy on chocolate malt ball with some dark chocolate mixed in, very heavy chocolate though. A light stinging on the tongue is felt.
