Sample draft at the brewpub - Poured a dark brown in color with a small tan head. Aroma was slightly fruity (dark fruits) and malty sweet. Flavor was weak, but slightly sweet with a small amount of the fruitiness coming through. A hint of alcohol. Watery. The best of the lot...

Again, I love anything Madison’s will put in front of me. NIce and dark amber. Nice clean finish.

Not very strong to call it a strong ale. Like all of Madison’s beers this one is just not there. The colour is beautiful and I had high hopes.

Deep brown coloured body with a light brown head topping the beer. Aroma of pit fruits, raisins, figs, malt and alcohol. Medium-bodied; Chewy flavour of raisins and malt most noticeable with some subtle spices coming through. Aftertaste shows some bitterness, but the sweetness really shows through. Overall, a strong beer - a bit too alcoholic and not enough sweetness to make it rough on the palate. I sampled this beer on draught from the brewpub in Bennington, Vermont on 23-October-2005.
