Perm (134), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2008 This is a really great summer brew from a fun and funky brewery. As an APA it is very floral and a bit fruit-flavor oriented; I appreciate the subdued hop character -- none of that West-Coast headache-inducing hop resin stuff.
Appearance: Like sun tea with a lacy white head
Aroma: floral! I get hints of azalea and laurel blooms, maybe faint wild rose hips
Taste: the floral continues and flows into an apricot presence, with mild hops and a well-balanced malt. Very well done!
Palate: A tad bit watery on the finish, but otherwise hard to complain.
Overall: This one goes down easy and begs a second. It is absolutely stupendous with seafood -- low-country boil (potatoes, corn on the cob, crawfish, mussels, shrimp, andouille sausage) to be specific.
urnamesucks (63), New York City, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 A very fruity beer with very aromatic flavors and smells. Not for everyone, but you’ll love it if you enjoy those flavors. Capa (719), Yokosuka, Japan Aug 18, 2008 Very candy like fruit notes. Not enough hop and malt to balance things out. It is refreshing, though. Optigon (546), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours yellow-orange with a fine white head. Aroma is thin with a light sweet, grainy aroma. Flavor is very sweet with really fruity qualities. Light and refreshing. jimbowood (715), Athens, Georgia, USA Aug 16, 2008 draft at mellow mushroom. Wanted to try something new. Shoulnt have tried this one. Drinkable, but not my style. FatTony (106), Augusta, Georgia, USA Aug 16, 2008 12 ounce bottle- poured out dark yellow with a white head. Aroma was all fruit, all the time. The taste was really overwhelmed by the fruity sweetness of this brew. Not something I would buy again, but I’m looking forward to the rest of the Magic Hat offerings.
