Hopistotle420 (1177), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Dec 9, 2005 12 oz bottle, label reads St. Gootz: I like hopscotchs murky prune juice assessment. Small tan head. Nose of cocoa, banana, graham cracker, sweet malt. Sweet grains, caramel, all banans, faintly bubble-gum, hint of clove, cocoa again, pear, somewhat thin. Dry hollow finish. This has potential I must say, but its lacking where it needs it the most. They are trying though, they sure are trying.
ROGUE (387), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 10, 2008 12oz bottle from mix pack. Poured a reddish amber with a minimal head. Slightly bitter with a hit of sweet fruit. Not to over powering. Flavor stays around and slowly fades. changeup45 (624), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2008 Updated: Sep 9, 200811/8/2005. Pours a dark brown, amber tinted body. Slightly cloudy but that’s hard to distinguish due to the color. Nice thick tan head. The overall appearance I must say is pretty nice. Interesting set of aromas: roasted and chocolate with a mix of banana, vanilla, and some yeast. The taste is interesting but in the end quite good. It’s got some coffee and chocolate but at the same time there is banana along with other fruity tastes. Roast all those and you’ve got this strange brew. There’s a slight hop bite as well. It’s not the greatest beer I’ve tried but it was definitely a fun beer to sample and review. There’s so much going on that I want to try it again. I bet I find something else about it that I missed. jgb9348 (1875), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Feb 16, 2008 Super hazy dark brown coloured body that is about 90% opaque with an almost non-existant head. Aroma of strong malt, toffee, peanuts, and some light spice. Medium-bodied; Strong flavour of nuts (most of all - peanuts) up front with some malt behind it along with some light spices. No bitter flavours dominate the aftertaste - just some lighter tastes and a mild sweetness on the palate. Overall, a decent beer - not much going on, but better than a lot of other Magic Hat’s, which are usually offensive in some way. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Trader Joe’s in Skyline (Bailey’s Crossroads), Falls Church, Virginia on 19-November-2005 sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. metsbcd (82), Connecticut, USA Oct 30, 2007 This was not a good beer. It tasted of sour bananas. I don’t know if I had a bad bottle, but after looking at other reviews, I don’t think so. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jun 27, 2007 First off, I am not a fan of the weizens. This beer is no different. However, it looked fantastic. Dark brown with a large, light brown head. Odd flavor, almost a sour banana-peel taste to it. Banana aftertaste. Not a horrible beer, but definitely not my style.
