RyanTHC (38), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2007 12oz bot in the summer variety show. pours a bronze amber with little head around the edges. flavor is soapy tones of citrus spice. not all that impressed but it isa double ipa and that is quite bitter for my tasting. like i said, it came in the pack
badlizard (1610), San Diego, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Cloudy yellow with a creamy white head. Barn yard funk and herbal aroma and good hop presence with a nice refreshing palate and dry finish. DocLock (4175), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 4, 2008 Thanks to obeygiant for this one. Pours deep copeery with ruby edges and off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, hops, vinous fruit. Tastes very hoppy in a piney sticky sense, with some caramel maltm, vinous fruit, and a smooth albeit slightly watery mouthfeel. Not bad, but I wish i could have had this one fresh. phishpond417 (1542), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 8, 2008 Magic Hat never dissapoints me. This brew is a gift from Singlemalter: Pours a reddish brown colour with a very distinct sweet malted aroma. And followed up by a caramel finish. I thought it wasn’t that hoppy for an IPA, but delicious none the less! Slipstream (479), USA Nov 30, 2007 The label is nothing great, but the beer looks okay. There is a small head that laces the glass, and a rich, sweet, fruity flavor. This was called the Summer Mystery Beer, and it is a full-bodied, strong-flavored ale. The taste is roasted grains, malt, and a little lemon and grapefruit. The hops are robust, especially in the finish. There was just a hint of skunk - the bottle might have been past its freshness date. This reminded me of some of the Lagunitas ales I have tried. It also made me wonder about the differences between IIPAs and APAs, since this seemed like it could be either. This is one of The Hat’s more powerful and interesting creations - I plan to try as many of their beers as I can find. xmarcnolanx (682), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Nov 6, 2007 For a DIPA this has a really tiny aroma. Taste is mostly soapy and thin. Very average..... meh.
