satan165 (207), River Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 1, 2008 Updated: Dec 6, 2008 not as offensive as i thought it might be. the main flavor and aroma proponent is a biscuity wheat quality. whether that is actually malt or just some noxious combination of lemongrass and weizen yeast i do not know. first of all, this is at best a wheat beer and not a weizen, since it is clearly been highly filtered, pours as clear as your average rice beer. i dont see how anyone is rating this as cloudy, this is very transparent. i dont sense any real lemongrass or even lemon, and very little to no citrus whatsoever so im not sure what good its inclusion was. i dont even know if id qualify this as an ’interesting take’ on a wheat beer, this is not a total waste but the ridicolous amount of creativity going into the name, label and corporate image has certainly trumped the intregue provided by the actual beer. mostly completed with this beer and now im noticing a very strong aftertaste that lingers for 20-30 seconds after each sip. i take back what i said earlier, this is now beginning to qualify as ’offensive’
sar50 (9), , Rhode Island, USA does not count Jan 7, 2009 poured out of a bottle into a standard pint. hazy yellow with a good head that sticks well to the glass and leaves a sticky lace. Smell is of wheat malts and a lot of lemon.
Taste has typical american wheat profile, with fruity yeast (but very mild to no banana-clove) and clean wheat profile. Lemon spice/peel dominateb the flavor for me and are a bit to much.
Drinkable for sure but dominated with to much lemon for me with not enough to balance it out.

Aromas of Lemons grass light malt and a shade of pepper. Very sweet palate. Rather poor. A lot like a Coors light. Eh. willblake (2050), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Dec 29, 2008 20081229 12oz bottle from Spirits on Sunset, Feast of Fools holiday 12-pk. Usual cloudy golden color of a hefe with nice medium sized white head of white foam that sheets lace. Excellent appearance. Aroma, besides typical hefe notes, is a bit musty with hints of sweaty mattress. ugh. Flavor has what I’m learning is a house character for Magic Hat, somewhat chemical and perfumey, with also a light citrus note--but not the typical biting citrus, more like a lemon curd or custard flavor. Caramel. Finishes with mild yeast sourness. Meh. boFNjackson (645), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 27, 2008 Bottle... Poured a vibrant yellow-orange with a frothy, white head. Lemon citrus and spicey aroma. Flavors were light and yeasty with crisp citrus and grass flavors -- go figure -- a bit unbalanced. And drink it really cold; as it warmed up it was sour. mattwatkins (4), , USA does not count Dec 26, 2008 very mild aroma. medium on all counts. does not drink like a hefeweizen. no outstanding wheat flavor, but still enjoyable.
