Fruity ringwood aromas bring lots of oily fruits in the portrait. Mango, peach and litchi come to mind, giving a slightly tropical feel to this otherwise malt forward brew. Straw-like, fruity, biscuity malts never reach the crispness promised. Mellow grassy hops serves support purposes and nothing more. A bit uneffective in the mouthfeel department where the ringwood’s inherent crushed graininess would require a bit more supportive carbonation, as it is it is kind of creamy, mediumbodied for the style and ultimately a bit sticky around the gums. Straightforward, but still good and easy-going. ROGUE (652), Newark, Delaware, USA

Light pine and citrus aromas. Balanced flavor with a smooth finish. Almost as good as the other MH pale ales. TechMyst (166), Fox River Grove, Illinois, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 10, 2006 Hoppy aroma, piney, citrus, brown sugar. Caramel flavor, a decent session beer. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Hazy red body with about inch-thick head. Smells sweet, maybe ginger and/or honey? Tastes both sour and sweet. Not much hops present. Probably the most sour English Pale Ale. Not sure what to think of this one. It’s okay, but their #9 is better. sirsirus (60), Boston, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Updated: Aug 9, 2006citrus, amber orange color, tan foam, medium bitterness, lightly sour, light body, slick feel, average carbonation. It was a fairly standard Pale Ale. Not too hearty or offensive. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 5, 2006 Draught pint at PJ Ryan’s on 8/4/06. Filtered, pasteurized, kegged, highly pressurized. It has the usual, quick-to-recede white head, no lacing. Golden-to-light-amber in the body. Fruity, citric, dry hops. Paperiness, cardboard, nuttiness, some acid in the background. Grainy, bare, pale malts. No substance to the aroma. Fruity, dry, stale, weak, loose, flimsy, not-complex, dead, dull flavor/texture. Nothing really here, don’t even know what to say. No alcohol apparency. Couldnt even drink half of it. jb (1034), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2006 On one wiff I smelled oranges, next time it was the strong aroma of hops aka pine forest. Some malty notes too. Thin head on a dark yellow-orange beer. Palate is mostly dry with a bit of malt. Not a real hoppy finish.
