Gachupines (290), USA Nov 29, 2005 Copper/amber with a thin head. Taste is malty with very slight hops. A little nutty, finish is a little bitter.Something seems slightly off in the aftertaste. Fairly drinkable, but nothing impressive. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2005 St. Andrews Restaurant, NYC - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper appearance, soft white head. Aroma not very apparent, some fresh lake water is about all I pick up. Not overly flavorful but a good companion to a meal. Solid, subtle bitter flavor with some brief nuttiness and
a hint of citrus balances this one out. Overall decent. GreenDragon (213), Richmond, Virginia, USA Nov 26, 2005 Updated: Nov 27, 2005Pours with a mostly white, frothy head with hints of yellow and rings of lacing. The beer itself is a golden ale with a light hoppy aroma with hints of grain. The beer tastes of light malts with some corn and hops thrown in on a thin body. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Nov 26, 2005 Yellow color with a rocky white head that quickly dimishes with pretty decent lacing. Aroma of grain and a matching taste. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA Nov 22, 2005 i’m so unimpressed with these magic hat beers. this one failed to rouse my senses again. this is thin and weak. needs more bold hopping to be a pale ale. watery and metallic and uninteresting. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2005 Updated: Dec 5, 2005Pours a clear amber with a thick, frothy head, nice lacing. The aroma is faint, but what I do detect is a sweet corn smell. The flavor is vegetal malt, copper and some soapy hops. The finish is metalic, the texture is watery. Another terrible offering from Magic Hat. Rib Eye (143), USA Nov 18, 2005 Updated: Dec 21, 2007Magic Hat’s version of an extreme hopped IPA. Don’t like ’em. Reminds me of Dominion’s Tupper’s Hop Pocket which I don’t like either. The style description here needs to change. I like English pale ales (Bass). This ain’t one. Seems like Magic Hat has a real hard time describing exactly what their beers are. In my experience they either get it completely wrong (372, while delicious, is in no way a Scottish Ale) or don’t even try to tell you what style they are (No. 9) Anyway, this is an IPA, no doubt, and as I said, I don’t like ’em. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 16, 2005 Diacetyl, buttery. Light sweetness but airy and fleeting. Mild hops bitterness, but not much to go on, really. A little note of soapiness, too. Dull orange-amber clear, with thin white head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Just a bit of carbonic burn. Starts with light-medium malt sweetness. A bit of diacetyl off taste followed by carbonic acidity and dull bitter notes. Hops are dead on this one, and the whole thing comes apart after a few sips. Just not that good an ale. Maybe it didn’t travel well or something before I bought it. Light bitter orange after with carbonic tang.
