hershiser2 (902), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Oct 21, 2005 BOTTLE. Amber with a large head.. Aroma of some sort of sour stinky cheese. Tastes like old watered down coffee with a hint of dirt. Watery, thin mouthfeel. Unimpressed. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2005 From bottle - pours out very clear light amber color. small-medium frothy white head that makes the beer look really delicious and tempting but then it dissipates quickly with only wet remnants, no lacing on the sides. not a very strong smell. pick up a little biy of sour grapes and floral components. It tastes like raisins and grapefruit and grass. thin body - clean on the palate. very light beer. light body. light carbonation. other comments suggest its underdone - I think its just subtle and good. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 10, 2005 Updated: Jun 28, 2006I have not been particularly fond of any of the beers I have had from this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a copper color with a large yellow-tan head. The aroma is sour malts. The flavor is light sour malts with a vague floral hop undertone. There is a light nutty element. The finish is vaguely hoppy. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Oct 10, 2005 bottle-thanks for hopdog for this one. pours dark orange with a small soapy white head. sweet fruity aroma of strawberries, raspberries , light grain husks and rose pedals. sweet fruity grainy flavors with a real husky grain malt finish. what is with magic hat and their astringent grain husk flavors? Every beer from them has this problem it seems. Very faint hops on the finish. Thin body and flimsy feel. the finish is just awful and grainy. This brewery doesnt do a thing for me. weeare138 (933), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2005 Appears a rich amber with a frothy 1 finger white head that fades into a clumpy film. Leaves streaky lacing around the glass.
Smell is of Ringwood, slightly sweet with a light apricot, caramel & toffee, with that slight butterness
Taste is about the same of the aromas with roughly the same appeal.
Mouthfeel is smooth with buttery sweetness. It’s ok. I’ve been drinking this one for so long though, it may have dropped down a few notches since I first had it about 8 years ago. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Sep 18, 2005 Bottle (thanks Quintana!). Medium amber color with little head. Nice grainy malt and subtle hop aroma. Flavor is very malt-forward, with a smooth palate and a nice little burst of hops in the finish. A nice, though somewhat light, take on the style. iam (369), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Sep 8, 2005 Bottle. Pours amber coloured with thin head. Rather un-appealing, sweetish, fruity, off aroma. Taste is not up to par with other beer from Magic Hat. Thin body with a bland grassy malt taste. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Aug 29, 2005 Updated: Dec 13, 2008[draft at MacGregor’s - Rochester, NY] Amber color with a white head. Slightly sweet but mostly hoppy aroma. The flavor is slightly hoppy and stale, with a little bit of sweetness and sourness near the end.
