Earthy, tobaccoey english hop aroma to start w/ a hint of diacetyl and caramel malt. Fruitiness of not quite ripe apples. A very nice toasted malt aroma as it warms. Starts malty w/ a ;hop flavor mid palate into the finish, caramel malt follows closely behind. Hop flavor is earthy and also has a little green apple flavor in the finish as well. Very well balanced and finishes on the hop flavored dry side. A little too well balanced for what I perceive to be an English pale ale. Lightly carbonated w/ a dry, borderline astringent mouthfeel and a little too light bodied for what seems to be an English Pale to me, if this is the case, it's pretty true to style and a very nice session ale. Not terribly complex, but better than the norm. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 22, 2003 Amber with an off-white head. Weak floral hops aroma. Taste is floral hops overlaid on a light caramal malt background. Thin body. Nothing offensive here, just nothing special either. ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 28, 2003 (Bottle) Minimal hops and suppresed malts make for a beer that is not exceptional in any way. Mouthfeel is thin and slightly watery. While this is very drinkable and unobjectionable, I think I liked the label best of all. I'd like to try it on tap. tiggmtl (4310), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Clear golden amber colour with small white receding head with some lacing. Nice malty pale ale with good balancing bitterness and a cereal flavour in the finish with some residual spiciness. Mouthfeel is creamy and fairly full for this medium-bodied beer. If this was available here, I could see myself drinking it with some regularity. A very tasty session beer. It would be nice if it retained a bit more head. On tap at the brewery and bottled.
