Wide distribution ales don't usually work for me, but FA delivers every time. Nice ale, yet not for the beginner (novices are better suited for a #9). ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2005 tap: thin amber color. Aroma reeked of bitterness. The beer was extremely bitter and dry, but also very enjoyable. Definitely a better common beer. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2005 Bottle (thanks Quintana!). Medium amber color with little head. Nice grainy malt and subtle hop aroma. Flavor is very malt-forward, with a smooth palate and a nice little burst of hops in the finish. A nice, though somewhat light, take on the style. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Appears a rich amber with a frothy 1 finger white head that fades into a clumpy film. Leaves streaky lacing around the glass.
Smell is of Ringwood, slightly sweet with a light apricot, caramel & toffee, with that slight butterness
Taste is about the same of the aromas with roughly the same appeal.
Mouthfeel is smooth with buttery sweetness. It’s ok. I’ve been drinking this one for so long though, it may have dropped down a few notches since I first had it about 8 years ago. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA

Smooth and light malt taste, with a somewhat dry finish. Have to appreciate the poetry on the Magic Hat labels. Birdiebeagle (788), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
