Earthy, tobaccoey english hop aroma to start w/ a hint of diacetyl and caramel malt. Fruitiness of not quite ripe apples. A very nice toasted malt aroma as it warms. Starts malty w/ a ;hop flavor mid palate into the finish, caramel malt follows closely behind. Hop flavor is earthy and also has a little green apple flavor in the finish as well. Very well balanced and finishes on the hop flavored dry side. A little too well balanced for what I perceive to be an English pale ale. Lightly carbonated w/ a dry, borderline astringent mouthfeel and a little too light bodied for what seems to be an English Pale to me, if this is the case, it's pretty true to style and a very nice session ale. Not terribly complex, but better than the norm. jb (1056), Rochester, New York, USA

Some malty notes too. Thin head on a dark yellow-orange beer. Palate is mostly dry with a bit of malt. Not a real hoppy finish. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 22, 2005 Copper color with a small white head. Fruity sweetness in the nose with notes of pears, apples, and caramel. Light bodied but fairly smooth. Caramel and malt flavors that gives way to a mildly harsh earthy hop finish. An average beer that dissappoints in the finish. Sven (229), Lancaster, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 5, 2004 Amber colour similar to Bass, tastes like an "everyman" beer spiked with a generous addition of PNW hops. Taste is reminiscent of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (watered down that is). Aroma and aftertaste from some bastardized Belgian-esque yeast strain. Odd beer. DrGonzo (625), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 29, 2003 Bottle. Light brown clear color. Thin-medium body. Somewhat English ale, little more pale, easy drinking, decent beer. Boutip (2385), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2004 Bottle: Poured an amber looking ale with a nice huge head with good retention. Aroma is quite hoppy and some sweetness can be detected. Taste is quite sweet at first and includes a lot of malt with a medium dry finish. A bit of citrus taste (orange) is also included in here - orange This tastes more like an APA then English Pale Ale; anyway it is enjoyable but nothing to write home about. drinkbeer (280), Redondo Beach, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 28, 2003 Fat and angelic. I had this right after a #9. Could taste many similarities between the two pale ales. This is like the 9 but without the apricot and with a more up-front hop character. 5000 (2589), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2005 Bottle: Amber, light haze, moderate to large foamy off-white head, quite nice lacing, no noticeable carbonation. Pale malt nose, sweet grass. Soft tart grassy flavor, not as sweet as suggested by the nose. Body and mouthfeel are average. Clean, very little hop profile, but then again this is an English Pale Ale. Not bad, average, but still enjoyable. Thanks Dan for the bottle!
