12-oz bottle from SS ’07. Pours hazy orange with a small, rocky, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, meal), average hops (grass), average yeast (dough) with notes of paper and apple. Light bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish, kind of wet and spicy palate. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness; husky grain and tea flavor with raw hop leaf at the end.

In the bottle at the Brickskeller. Pours a hazy butterscotch rich golden yellow. Fluffy white head with the hills-and-valley phenotype. Hoppy aroma. Nice lacing. The body is disappointingly thin. A bit metallic in taste. Almost tastes like blood. Slight musty aroma. Mildly bitter, but fairly disappointing.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with jah noth, thanks Dan!) Nothing too exciting going on with this beer. It’s lightly fruity early, lightly nutty late, lightly bitter throughout, and lightly flavorful in general. A bit of floral essence in the nose, but also a hint of fruitiness. The beer shows a consistent light-medium body from start to finish. Pale amber in color and somewhat hazy from bottle conditioning. The tall whitish head settles to a ring, leaving no lacing. An okay beer, but clearly not one of Magic Hat’s best.

Bottle. Pours amber with no head. Very low carbonation. Tastes of lightly hopped apple cider. Smooth but uneventful.

12oz bottle, freebie following argo0’s holiday party. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a clear, orangish-amber color; off-white head with decent lacing. Overripe dark fruits and a stale biscuity note in the aroma; an earthy hop character coming through as well. I had a hard time getting through much of this: medium mouthfeel that pretty much follows the aroma: overripe fruit and pretty unpleasant earthy and biscuity notes; average levels of carbonation, with a dustiness and a bubble gum note coming through mid-palate. A very strange beer, with an impressively inane commercial description. Medium, doughy and earthy malt finish; a slight English hop presence.

Bottle. Clear copper with thin, quickly diminishing off-white head. Faint aroma of hops, otherwise smells generally of old wood. A little bit of yeast also. Flavor kind of flat and boring, hop bitterness is there, but no real malt character. Palate light to medium, but carbonation flattens quickly. Non-offensive, but no excitement whatsoever. Plain Jane ale.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.
