Lubiere (3324), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2008 Bottle was bought at brewery in 2004. I was waiting for a special occasion, in this case, our first anniversary of dating. Cork was dried and broke...was a little afraid the beer would be off. A clear dark stout with a super thick moka head. A wonderful raspberry aroma, pungeant, with sweet milk chocolate. In mouth, balance of sweetness of the fruit with torrefied coffee, light lactic notes. Wonderful beer. A surprise that it survived four years storing. maniac (2022), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 14, 2008 Dark black body wtih a light brown head. Sweet raspberry and light chocolate aroma. Sweet heavy chocolate flavor with a good helping of raspberries. Kinz (1917), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Nov 26, 2007 Richmond "industry" gathering. Ultra dark brown, decent head. Aroma was chocolate, raspberry, and faint coffee. The flavor was a dead on match to the nose. Very nice, flavors melded quite well. Definitely a favorite amongst some at the gathering. awaisanen (1161), Irvine, California, USA Aug 13, 2007 From a 750mL Bottle. Generously shared by KAME 5/2007. Pours a really dark black, opaque color with a huge layer of well sustaining, sudsy white head. A huge perfume of cherry cough syrup blasts the nostrils, as well as some perfumed hand soap yeast phenols. Not much else seems to be going on; just a light dusting of chocolate mocha malt, soapy yeast, and cherry cough syrup. Medium bodied, over-carbonated mouthfeel. A bit thin, with some papery oxidation. Lots of fake cherry and astringent malt, lacking in and chewy or firm malt texture. Too thin, oxidized, and over-carbonated. Everything can’t be a winner, and this one is definitely past it’s prime. The generosity far exceeds the quality of the actual beer. Thanks for sharing, Dillon! CharlesDarwin (1413), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2007 750mL. Thanks for sharing Dylan! Aroma is an intense, lightly parching cherried candy and sweet chocolate, however mildly artificial. Dark black with dense foam tan rim. Cordial cherries dominate the initial flavor, in that sold at the counter, wrapped in red foil, in plastic trays, at a midwestern gas station, kind of way. Stout character takes voer with a salty and pithy stout run. A medium, woody and seedy stout with dropping of cheap kirsch. Finishes in the middle.
