UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA Jul 16, 2003 On tap at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT. Looking orangey gold with a frothy white head. Aroma is an onslaught of hops. Very herbal and almost pot-like. One of those american high alpha hops, heavy handed smelling. Flavor is all hops. Really no malt to speak of, body is amazingly light for the alcohol content, and all hop bitterness. Very herbal, slightly grassy. Hops are brutish and not very clean tasting. It's bitter, but I don't really think it's very balanced or really all that great. I'd like way, way more body, some estery fruit for complexity, and some other kind of hop. I'd actually prefer cascade, since it's got a nice clean flavor to it and can serve to be very hoppy. Disappointing, considering I think Magic Hat does a good job with most of their beers.
Rciesla (1571), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Dec 25, 2008 Bottle. Better than blind faith. Orange golden body with a white lacing. Floral hop body, grapefruit, light fruitness. A thin spicy character with a bitter bite to finish. penguinjive7 (67), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 21, 2008 Pours a nice golden color with about two fingers of head.
Smell is rather floral with citrus and a bit of earthyness as well
The first flavor to hit is a strong grapefruit hop flavor followed by a ver small bit of grassyness. Malt balance comes in in the finish, especially as it warms. A bit of the floral tone from the spell is present but just lightly in the finish.
This is light and dry in the mouth, gets more heavy and cloying as it warms.
Another solid brew form Magic Hat. Very drinkable although I don’t know that I’d have more than one or two in a row. I wish they would make this one year round...
Reviewed on: 05-12-2008 TeamBigEvil (13), , Massachusetts, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle from the 2008 Participation Get out and Vote Variety Pack. Pours a clear golden with a thick white head. It had a very light citrus aroma. Drinks nice with a clean and slightly bitter finish. BeerHawk (864), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle from trade with Butters. Poured orange with a creamy off-white head that settles to a thin layer and left light lacing. The aroma found caramel, orange and a light floral. The flavor had caramel a hoppy citrus. Medium body and a medium bitterness throughout. Nice! Tessic (417), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Aug 25, 2008 This IPA poured a dark yellow colour with a fast dissipating rocky white head. To the nose there is scents of pine, grass, pineapple, lemon rine and a little yeast. First taste was smooth and at first was a nice even flavour of hopps. As it progressed the hopps became very potent. Almost getting acidic but not to an annoying level. Finish is bitter with flavours of lemons and grass. Very good.
