Pours a very daark brown with red highlights and a rocky tan head. Some baker’s chocolate in the flavor with a lot of earthy notes. Easy drinking but with a lot of flavor. Slight bitter kick at the end of the swallow. Nicely done!

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2010 12 oz. bottle pours opaque black - just like my soul - but this beer has a limited amount of poufy head that dissipates quickly, leaving moderate lacing as it goes. Aroma is initially of wet dog, which is offputting to say the least, but then warms up to a nice caramel and coffee aroma. Low carbonation with a light to medium mouthfeel. Malty goodness throughout with a smoky finish and coffee aftertaste. yinzerbeernut (65), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Poured deep brown with a sand colored head that diminished quickly with little to no lacing. This beer yielded plenty malt on nose and a caramel note on taste. This is a forward drinking Ale with a touch of coffee bitterness on finish. jport4087 (102), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2010 This one poured a darkbrown color with an off white head. Aroma was roasted malts, some grassy musty hops and some chocolate too. Flavor was sweet and caramelly. Kinda reminded me of cola...Really enjoyed this one. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Pours a barely transparent blackish mahogany with a small ring of light tan head. Has a grainy toasty dark caramel malty nose with a touch of noble hops. Starts with a nice doughy dark caramel and chocolate flavor with good authenticity before a drier bittersweet roasty finish. A pretty good schwarzbier. DragonStout (1386), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

Poures black as night with virtually no head. The nose was roasty and nutty. The body was thin and the flavor was a bit hoppier than I like with hints of nuttiness, roasted coffee and chocolate.Finished off slightly dry and smokey. 17thfloor (1514), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2010 12oz bottle. Pours a creamy shinny very near black with a tall foamy frothy light tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is lightly fruity, hard roast, nicely spicy, some chocolate cookie. Flavor follows, a bit doughy, chocolate cookie, roasty, light ash, nice and creamy, really a pretty good schwarzbier. Medium bodied with a nice creamy fairly full mouth-full, sizzling carbonation. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 1, 2010 Bottle. Pours brown in color, almost black with a very minimal head that vanished as quick as it appeared. There is little aroma aside from a light toasted note. Flavor is a little better with stong roasted malts, some smoke, and a sweet creamy finish. It has a medium body, and a lightly oily mouthfeel.
