A very delicious schwarzbier. Aroma was good. Roasted malt and a hint of coffee. Pour was a nice deep dark black black with no head or bubbles. Taste was full and not overpowering. Coffee and dark roasted malt in the front with a slightly bitter wet aftertaste. Very strong carbonation carries the flavors through. Only problem with this beer is the aftertaste doesn’t carry the coffee or malt flavor with it. Very good nonetheless and in my opinion the best beer to come from this brewer.

Dec 23, 2009 A very dark brown, almost black, pour with a thin off-white head. It has a roasted malt aroma with chocolate and some caramel. The taste is lightly sweet with a lightly bitter, toasty finish. The body is light with a thin texture and little carbonation. Is Howl supposed to be scary? Because it is frightfully tame.

Dec 23, 2009 Pours a very dark brown which appears almost black with a thick off white head that starts to disapate rather quickly.The Aroma is fruity and funky, with subtle notes of coffee, caramel and a smell similar to the candy Caramel Creams. the taste has consists of an obvious coffee flavor, with hints off caramel and half and half. Palate is a bit watery.

Dec 22, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a light tan two finger head that retains decently and some lacing. Aroma is sweet with a hint of roasted chocolate malt. The taste has a big coffee flavor with a slight hint of coco and a roasted malt backbone. Low carbonation makes it very smooth and rich.

Dec 21, 2009 Pours a nice deep brown black with a thin short-lived head. Aroma is coffee chocolate roasted malt a bit of smoke. Kind of a thin aqueous mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly coffee. Not a bad beer. Easy drinker.

Dec 20, 2009 Cool label on the bottle caught my eye in the store. Bottle pour is very dark and inviting. Light carbonation, thin, fast dissipating tan/brown head. Aromas of heavily roasted malts, chocolates, caramel, a little coffee. Very pleasing mouth feel, thicker, very prominent roast grains flavors, slightly smokey, chocolatety, light hops finish is nice.
I really like this brew, my first Magic Hat rating, and I will certainly try more in the line.

Dec 20, 2009 Draught @ Headkeeper: This one poured a dark, opaque brown color. There was as small tan head that dropped off quickly. The nose is good. First off you get some chocolate, then roasted malts. The taste is chocolaty, roasty and a bit dry. Nice.

Dec 19, 2009 On tap for growler fills at Half-Time. Pours a dark cola brown with a thick light tan head. Roast, chocolate, malt, and caramel. Medium bodied and really smooth. Chocolate and roast. Finishes up with a light lager finish. Pretty tasty but not as clean as it could be.
