| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Found this one bottled at Binny’s in St. Charles, Illinois. Oily, dark brown pour with a lacy, tan head. Light, soy sauce and barbecue sauce nose. Bright, chocolate malt and cherry flavors fade into a nice, balanced bitterness. Strong finish. A nice winter warmer. crhensel (23), New Jersey, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 31, 2009 (Bottle into mug) It looks nice! Poured a deep black with a half finger light brown head that hung on for quite a while. After that, well... nothing redeeming about it at all. The nose was reminiscent of an ashtray. All I could smell was smoke, and not the nice campfire kind.. the week old Marlboro kind -- it almost seems as the roasting went a little too far. I battled through and took a taste, but again, the burnt smoky flavor was too much. Let this one sit for a few minutes to let the air hit this and hopefully mellow some flavors and draw out others, but to no avail. Took another drink and that was it, I had to pour the rest. Bottle was dated 1/2010 and perhaps this was part of it, or I got a bad batch. I might have to try again next year to see if that was the case. blutt59 (2182), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Tap. Tastes like a campfire, roasted malt, anise, licorice. Rich, full bodied flavor and a clean finish TizzleJizzle (69), Garland, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark amber/black color with a decent head that lasted for an appropriate amount of time. Wasn’t too powerful on the nose and one could barely pick up smells of roasted malt. This brew has an excellent taste of caramel & coffee, but ends with a watery finish. It’s like it tried to be a stout, but is too weak to be one. All in all this is a decent winter beer and is worth a try. lithy (1850), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2009 Dark brown, red tint, thin tan cover. Chocolate aroma, caramel, roast. Taste is nicely roasty, chocolate, light bitter astringent finish. PhatB420 (143), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 28, 2009 12 ounce experience in darkness my friends, without a clear sight at all. The total depth of this brew is exhausting and the frigid backbone of the suds saluate the sensationalbe right to brew it non confimingly towards the ultimate lager expo. Niko100 (157), New York, USA
