Commercial Description:
Earthy, rich and steeped in autumn’s magic: it’s an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fall’s bonfires. Available in the Fall.

Good for fall. That being said, it wasnt that great of a beer. Heavily malted, slightly smokey, earthy, and pretty much as described above. It seemed like it was missing something though... not sure what, but whatever it is missing, it’s keeping me from sensing the "memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields"..... not sure that any beer can give you that, but this definitely doesn’t have it.

Seems like they went half way to be safe. It has the merits mentioned, but it needs the body, and a deeper flavor to be a memorable pour.

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in Rochester. All in all, a difficult beer to rate. The only sure thing is that it really was not anything over the top. The beer did not go well with an 80 degree day in August. Perhaps in late fall I will re-rate...

Totaly not like anything I have had before. Have to say that made it taste better than it probably would have otherwise. It is, howevery, truly a nice smoky beer.

This is my second Magic Hat. The Jinx was enjoyed at the Richbrau Beer Festival. It was hard to rate . Not much that caught your fancy. It was dark amber with some hops but nothing very distnctive.

Acquired from the fall variety 12-pack... Brown translucent body with initially thick offwhite head that becomes about a quarter inch thick. Smells grainy and malty, with hints of yeast and alcohol. Tastes smokey, with some malt and some alcohol. Overall not bad though. Flavorful beer with a lot going on and warming feel. Good stuff.

Dark reddish body, sweet nose, off-white head. Malty body, slightly smoky. Not terribly memorable.
