Commercial Description:
Earthy, rich and steeped in autumn’s magic: it’s an ale of change. This potent infusion is haunted by memories of summer and the first frost on abandoned fields. Jinx prepares the bones for snow. It has the glint of golden maples at peak and finishes light as an ode to the fading sun. A bit of peat-smoked malt imparts a subtle hint of smoke that reminds us of fall’s bonfires. Available in the Fall.

On tap at Barcade. Clear, light brown color with a small tan head. Mild smoked malt aroma with some caramel. Flavor is pretty much the same, with a hint of butterscotch on the finish.

on tap at Bar 6, NYC. chestnut colored, light amber at the edges. mostly clear. light tan foamy head. aroma of toffee malt, caramel too. peaty aroma is hardly there. flavor is lots of toffee malt, some wet burnt hay but not strong at all. light ashen aftertaste. had this served at my wedding 4 years ago, and I remembered it being a little bigger then. still pretty smooth for a beer approaching 7%

[bottle] Pours an intimidating brown-copper color with a small head. The aroma is interesting earthy smoke and perhaps coffee or chocolate? Flavors are nice- smoked malts dominate and give way to caramel and then a smooth finish. I dig this brew for the fall season, it fits nicely.

Really nice color, almost magenta. Light bodied, with strong earthy flavors. Not particularly smooth, maybe too much carbonation. Flavors aren’t prominent, somewhat burnt aftertaste. Kind of mediocre.

On tap. Malty, caramel aroma, copper, small tan head. Assertive malt flavour, caramel too. Light bodied, sweet, with some bitterness. Good, but doesn’t meet the style?

Copper brown. Suprisingly light smokey flavor with rich sweet malts. Not too shabby.

draught. brown-copper with a creamy off-white head. aroma is grainy malt, crisp fresh hops, and sweet caramel cookies. I didn’t really see any resemblance to a smoked beer...the body is yeasty and has sugar caramel malt. decent but it isn’t particularly interesting.

I actually really enjoyed this beer -- it’s flavor holds a unique location between summer and autumn. Hey everyone -- this is not a winter ale, so stop expecting a strong smoked beer when that’s not the point. It had the aroma of a fall/winter ale (nice brown sugar/smokiness), but a light body and soft palate. The sweet, malty flavor and drinkability is perfect for those "not quite fall yet" days in September and October. This beer gets good marks from me.
