argo0 (6162), Washington DC, USA Aug 26, 2008 (12oz bottle, thanks peregrinari) Medium beige head that mostly dissipates atop crystal clear amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, bread, some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, some bread. Light-medium body, light resin. CaptainCougar (4633), Rockville, Maryland, USA Feb 23, 2008 Pours a transparent bright copper bronze with a nicely-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty pale grainy malt and some lemony citrusy hops. Body starts semi-sweet with a decent bittering hoppy presence and some earthy notes before a drier toasty finish. Doesn’t have the big hop nose and assertiveness for an IPA. hopdog (4541), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 5, 2008 12oz bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a medium and clear amberish / golden color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of earth, grainy, and light citrus. Tastes of grains, citrus, light caramel, and some pine. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Feb 17, 2008 12 ounce bottle from City Market in Burlington, VT (February 2008), served at cellar temperature in a Hair of the Dog glass. Clear bronze in color with a largish frothy off-white head that decays slowly and leaves thick lacing....pungent, spicy hops offer hints of wet cedar/pine resin, a bit of citrus, white pepper....the follow-through on the taste buds is solid, with light fruitiness offering just enough sweetness to counterbalance powerful dry woody bitterness up until the finish, which is quite sharp....could be a bit fuller overall, and the carbonation is a bit weak and diffuse; but IPAs and pale ales are something Magic Hat seems to be able to do pretty well, and this is no exception. A reasonable replacement for Fat Angel, I suppose.
