muzzlehatch (4422), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jan 5, 2008 12 ounce bottle from City Market in Burlington, VT (December 2007), served a little above fridge temperature from a Ramstein weizen glass. A decent bubbly-smooth light tan head covers the darkly translucent maple body, dying quite slowly, leaving minimal residue in the glass....nose is sour wheaty mash, and not in a good way; it’s like bread rising and something’s going wrong with it, unpleasant and almost gag-inducing, I’m afraid to actually taste it....well, it’s not as bad as the aroma would have made me guess it would be, but it’s hardly any better, sour and artificial and characterized by a spoiled grapiness and very heavy mineralic quality at the finish....dreadful, drain pour, possibly the brewery’s worst product yet.
nick76 (1935), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 26, 2008 The aroma is very clean with pine hops, chocolate, and roasted malt. The appearance is red/brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter and toasty aftertaste. The palate is average. Overall a decent beer. Damico (25), Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2008 This was a very deep brown ale with a smooth body and flavor. It wasn’t too hopped up or filled with rich spices, just nice subtle flavors that a dark ale should have. The bottle label reminded of those decorated in Belgium for Christmas such as the Noels or the Still Nacht. gsmitty80 (487), Charleston, South Carolina, USA May 27, 2008 This beer was very good. I am a fan of dark wheat beers and this fit the bill. A high alcohol content makes it a great winter seasonal. I hope it comes back around. Sammy (2946), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2008 on cask. So had light mouthfeel. Dark colour. Drinkable, average beer overall. MrBeerFanatic (172), jamestown, New York, USA May 10, 2008 Wasn’t blown away but wasn’t disapointed eather with this one. The flavor was of caramel and toffee malts. Also some fruityness. Semi-sweet. Pretty good beer.
