zach8270 (1421), Henrietta, New York, USA Mar 23, 2008 (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Clear red pour with a puffy tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty and has a touch of hops, spices, and cloves. Flavor is pretty run of the mill. Lightly malty with a decent hop balance that gives way to a doughy and earthy finish. Some spice at the end.
bbp182 (254), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 26, 2008 Pours a nice brownish/reddish color with a decent sized tanish/off white head. Has a very inviting smell. A little hint of hops and chocolate/coffee. It has a very drinkably quality to it. Perfect for a spring/summer evening/night. naivepegasus (148), USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a reddish brown with about a finger of light beige tan head. Coca and coffee odor. Taste is of burnt toast, chocolate, and coffee, with a slightly bitter hop aftertaste. A decent session beer, but nothing spectacular. puboflyons (388), New Hampshire, USA Jul 3, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of Jul ’08. Pours more brown then red with a little bit of beige head. Kudos for the smoked, cocoa-like aroma. It was quite pleasing on the nose. Medium mouthfeel and bold. Flavor is sweet, malty, lightly spiced, and even a little fruity. It is complex but it is quite a likeable brew. I’ll have another (and I did). jrmac (137), USA Jun 18, 2008 Beer pours a good dark brown with a decent enough head. Interesting nose, very floral with malt present. Very complex, but a bit watery for my taste. Still not bad, but I am glad I got this in the variety back instead of six. BeerBaron617 (153), Novi, Michigan, USA Jun 10, 2008 pretty good Irish beer, with some smokey notes, and lots of malt. much better than any macrobrews.
