ChainGangGuy (1721), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Sep 20, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, orangey-gold body with a bubbly white head, but it soon departs.
Smell: Pale malt aroma with a distinct scent of floral, spicy hops. Distant note of fruit in the background.
Taste: Pale malts with a light hint of toasted grains. A single, solitary drop of honey provides some sweetness. Spicy, floral Saaz hops with a medium bitterness that holds beyond the finish, even. Finishes dry and quite crisp.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Potentially in the pocket of Big Bitterness, the Participation Lager makes as much sense as picking Palin as a running mate.
Bella68 (29), Alabama, USA Dec 1, 2008 Bottle. This lager had the most amazing head I’ve ever seen. Very billowy and everlasting. Color was a golden amber and clear. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much out of the aroma, but the taste wasn’t bad. Kinda grainy and medium bodied. Pretty fun lager. Jine (883), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Nov 30, 2008 11.16.08 Pretty decent pils but not as good as the Victory I had just before. Good though, Magic Hat doesn’t disappoint. jstraw (519), Oak Park, Illinois, USA Nov 29, 2008 Orange-gold with decent, white head / Nose of grain, honey and citrus / Medium bodied, fat, with residual sweetness and good fruit, and with good bitter, hoppy finish / Flavors of grain and honey with notes of apricots and oranges / Not a pilsner, but a very good, fruity lager. mdm46410 (613), Griffith, Indiana, USA Nov 29, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a shaker. This beer poured a clear golden with a two-finger thick head of foamy off-white bubbles. A small amount of spotty lacing was left around the glass. The aroma consisted of grainy sweet malt and some grassy hops. The flavor was much the same. Not overly clean. The mouthfeel was light-bodied and had moderate carbonation. This beer displayed a nice, crisp hoppiness, but the taste was somewhat husky and metallic. An average pilsener. arventresca (193), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber. Nice beer. A little bitter but obviously the best out of the mix pack.
