these beer kick and I always look forward to these as they come out
during the year. chest66 (6), New Haven, Connecticut, USA does not count May 9, 2004 Beautiful chocalate brown colour that has a smooth creamy taste of vanilla, coffee, and then a delicious fizz at the end. One of the most interesting porters that I’ve tried and one that I would highly recommend. clvand0 (350), Lexington, Kentucky, USA May 24, 2005 "Don’t climb a ladder with a full bladder." Awesome cap. Thanks to SheepNutz for bringing this beer along. Pours a very dark color with small head that dies off quickly, but leaves some lacing on the glass. Wow, what an aroma! Smells like thick cocoa. Chocolate and chocolate and chocolate. The flavor was very good. Thick and creamy mouthfeel with an overall flavor of cocoa. Slight hints of roasted in there, but mostly just chocolate. What a great beer. Magic Hat surprises me again. Wish I could get this stuff in my area.
openwindow (67), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jan 31, 2005 This is one of my favorite porters, though it does have quite a distinction from the formula. The beer is exceptionally smooth for a porter, and has a rich coffee-like aroma. Carbonation is "just right". Being an annual seasonal, quality will vary from year to year, but it is always a good choice for fans of darker styles. TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Apr 23, 2006 If you love the smell and taste of vanilla, then you will love Ravel. I’ve been enjoying this beer since Magic Hat first brewed it, and I think the combination of vanilla and porter is a real winner. This beer is a bit one dimensional, as vanilla character dominates this beer, but for vanilla lovers, it is a real treat. Ravel pours to a deep brown, to black color, with a thick, creamy, off white head, and a soft to moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is very fragrant with the smell of vanilla bean, and light hints of roast, and dark chocolate. The palate is rich, and full, with soft flavors of dark malt, dark chocolate, mild roast, and sweet vanilla flavor. This beer finishes with more of those good dark malt, coffee, and chocolate flavors up front, then ends with a sweet and tasty vanilla flavor that lingers. A fantastic desert beer, this one is a perfect match with rich, chocolate deserts, and makes for a wonderful beer to enjoy as a digestif after a big meal. I love this beer.
