May 17, 2008 Draft at Alembic. Hazy golden color, minimal lacing, almost no retention. Vanilla, bourbony aroma that dominates the rest of the beer. Medium bodied, quite sweet, very hot. Didn’t finish half the glass. Did we have the same beer?

Nov 10, 2007 I ordered this beer having NO clue what it was going to be. All I knew was that it was 10% and aged in bourbon oak. WOW. This is maybe the most complex and flavorful brew I have EVER come upon. At first in the aroma I pick up the typical belgian character, yeasty and spicy... and then what’s this? A very intriguing strong oak and alcohol presence. This beverage needs to touch my tongue immediately... Extremely sweet but not cloying. Mouthfeel is extremely rich but I am still thirsty. I taste a huge oak presence and WHISKEY... oh YES... in a very GOOD way. This beer is so RICH and so HEAVY... yet I can’t get enough. Thank you MAGNOLIA.
