badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA Oct 24, 2009 Copper red with a fizzy tan head. Pumpkin and cinnamon aroma and taste with some nutmeg in the finish. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 1, 2009 On draft at the brewry. See through light orange in color which manages to be gorgeous! Distant nose mainly smelled of light malts and weaker spices. Drinks lagery and a bit watery, but the light spice does kick in towards the finish which saves this one from being a dud. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 11, 2009 (10/30/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in San Francisco. Dark brown color. Aroma with yeast, pumpkin, spices and brown sugar. Sweetish flavor with some malt, pumpkin, sugary notes and a bit of yeast. Medium-bodied. MuertosPorter (28), California, USA Nov 20, 2008 I can not say that pumpkin ales get me excited, but this is fantastic! I couldn’t stop drinking this over Halloween weekend. My wife and I returned to pub three times during our five day stay in SF.
Deep amber in color with a quarter inch of tan head. Aromas of cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and toasted pumpkin seeds. The flavor also held clove, allspice, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Very rich, smooth, well balanced and easy drinking. This is not a "pumpkin pie" beer.
This was the perfect combination with the Barking Pumpkin braised short ribs.
The Barking Pumpkin on cask was even better, overall everything was a bit more pronounced.
Highly Recommended!
