Commercial Description:
Big Cypress Brown Ale is a bold, American-style brown ale that would make our phriends from Vermont proud. It is made with lots of English brown malt to give a deep, smoky roastiness. Caramel and chocolatey characters abound along with an earthy hop aroma and flavor.

Pour is dark dark brownish black with some ruby highlights and a dense nice tan head...smell is great, with nice roasted malt and some nutty and toffee aromas too...taste is sweet and also very toasty with some great chewy malt flavors...finish is lingering and leaves a great aftertaste...weird, a fairly deep brown ale...

Dark brown. Upfront liquorice, toffee malts. Light body but smokey, toffeeish malts make this is pleasurable brown and the only fully realized beer I had at Magnolia.

Cask at the brewpub (3.7%). Near black. Pleasant roasty malt aroma that is carried on over into, and getting more intense, in the flavour. Light bodied with creamy mouthfeel. The low hop rate results in low bitterness and leaves alot of room for a well developed malt flavour. My favourite beer at this place.

On tap, at the brew pub. Nutty brown aroma. Dark brown, medium tan head. Interesting malty taste - rather flavourful. Some other taste present - is it a spice? Maybe some dry baker’s chocolate? Whatever it is, I like it and it adds to the flavour. Just a tad watery, otherwise solid and very good. Man, I’ve had some excellent brown ales on my trip so far.

Pint pulled at the Magnolia Brewpub in San Francisco, a dark black with a large head which was creamy but frothy on top. A malty aroma, toffee-like. Flavour is reminiscent of stewed fruits with a hint of sweet bitterness. Very very smooth in the mouth. On of my all time favourites!

On tap at the San Francisco "Brews on the Bay" Festival. Dark brown pour, off-white head; wort-like vegetable-like aroma. Pick up some coffee in the flavor, a bit of back end nuttiness. Smooth, crisp mouthfeel. Ok bbrewpub brown ale.

sweet and very thin, just tastes of watered-down nougat, low on any roasted flavours, very dull

Cask at Magnolia. Dark burgundy. Mild, thin palate, a little maple, brown malts, some wood, maybe some smoke. Decent.
