Commercial Description:
Made with Maris Otter pale malt, several different crystal malts, and just a touch of black malt, Blue Bell boasts a rich malt complexity balanced by generous additions of British hops (Challenger, Northdown, and East Kent Goldings). The English malt and hops are a natural with our yeast strain and we add some mineral salts to the water to enhance authenticity. Fruity and caramel notes are present. Copper-hued and medium bodied, Blue Bell is a little on the strong side but still makes a fine session beer. It is also the first beer made at Magnolia.

Tried this on draft at the brewpub during a far too short visit on vacation. The brewer intentionally seeks to give the beer an ’English’ feel and succeeds magnificently. This was bitter, complex and refreshing and will be a ’must’ on my next trip.

Cask: Pour is darker copper color with a thin off white head...lightly floral nose, with lots of caramel and bread dough...taste is lightly sweet with some caramel, but no real bitterness to speak of...watery...

Had the cast version at the brewery. Rich aroma, but not much on the bitter side. Almost chewy. Not bad, but not my favorite

On cask. Darkish amber colour. has a rich malt aroma and light ester overlay. The body is a bit syrupy, with one-dimensional malts and slightly earthy hops. Finishes with what seems like a hit of crystal malt.

Cask at the brwepub. Clear nut brown. Ashy chemical aroma. Sweet with resiny flavour and raw, mellow mouthfeel. Chemical, soapy, resiny finish. Offensive and flawed.

Tap @ brewpub. A dark amber color with a grainy malt flavor and a slightly toasted malt aroma. A very clean and smooth beer with a "heavy liquid" feeling on the palate. Hard to find theh ops in this one.

Draft. Dark mahogony-amber beer with a big off-white head. Roasty malt aroma. Light body. Some roasty malts, some low grassiness. Easy to drink.

Good amlt body with the signature Maris Otter nose. Somewhat Burton upon Trent in Flavor profile nice English hop flavor profile with lite hop nose. Great on handpump for a session beer.
