Commercial Description:
Made with Maris Otter pale malt, several different crystal malts, and just a touch of black malt, Blue Bell boasts a rich malt complexity balanced by generous additions of British hops (Challenger, Northdown, and East Kent Goldings). The English malt and hops are a natural with our yeast strain and we add some mineral salts to the water to enhance authenticity. Fruity and caramel notes are present. Copper-hued and medium bodied, Blue Bell is a little on the strong side but still makes a fine session beer. It is also the first beer made at Magnolia.

Dark red hue, hoppy flavor, mild nose with dark fruit and some nuts. Decent beer, not a regular bitter but still good. Fresh hops abound.

Tasted at the 2004 Pizza Port Real Ale Festival. Medium orange color. Small head. Aroma is fruity and malty. A medium bodied bitter. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy, floral and bitter. Some hints of smoke and peat. Mild flavors. Soft carbonation. A little funky and yeasty tasting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Cask @ Real Ale Fest

The beer pulls from the cask a clear burnished copper color with a generous head that is spumous in texture and a light tan color, the lace a concealing sheet. Nose was malt sweet, fresh and clean to the olfactory senses; start was malt sweet with the top middling in feel. Finish was medium in carbonation, the hops pleasant and delectable, I thought this the best Bitter of the weekend, dry aftertaste a real pleasant and pleasing surprise, I had a couple of these one a double pour.

Pours a semi-hazy amber color with a small white head. Aroma is light malt, grain, and some rather strong yeasty notes. Flavor mimics the aroma. Yeasty and grainy. Body is good...nice medium body and smooth.

Tap@Magnolia Pub and Brewery, San Fransisco- pretty English tasting, lemony, tea like hops, but once again, relatively grainy body.

Really ryeish aroma with a small amount of hops. Murky amber color. Lots of hops in the flavor with alot of water yet it is done in a way where it is decently smooth.
