Commercial Description:
Made with Maris Otter pale malt, several different crystal malts, and just a touch of black malt, Blue Bell boasts a rich malt complexity balanced by generous additions of British hops (Challenger, Northdown, and East Kent Goldings). The English malt and hops are a natural with our yeast strain and we add some mineral salts to the water to enhance authenticity. Fruity and caramel notes are present. Copper-hued and medium bodied, Blue Bell is a little on the strong side but still makes a fine session beer. It is also the first beer made at Magnolia.

(On tap) Clear, warm, dark amber golden with the tiniest off-white head. Rather subdued, nutty aroma. Fairly light in body, lightly nutty flavours and then a somewhat odd, sweetish, candy-like edge - where did that come from? Finishes dry. 210307

From tap at the brewpub. Pours almost clear and golden deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malty with a light hoppy accent coming through. Mild acidic hops fruity flavoured. Fruity and light bitter together with a light roasted malt flavour into the finish.

Cask at the brwepub. Clear nut brown. Ashy chemical aroma. Sweet with resiny flavour and raw, mellow mouthfeel. Chemical, soapy, resiny finish. Offensive and flawed.

On cask. Darkish amber colour. has a rich malt aroma and light ester overlay. The body is a bit syrupy, with one-dimensional malts and slightly earthy hops. Finishes with what seems like a hit of crystal malt.

Tap@Magnolia Pub and Brewery, San Fransisco- pretty English tasting, lemony, tea like hops, but once again, relatively grainy body.
