Commercial Description:

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

Day of the Living Ales in Chicago. Pours cooper color with a thin head. Nice floral hop aroma. Sweet malt balances well with the hops. Nice to a brewery from CA sending their beer to this festival.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy floral aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter flavor. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish with a bitter aftertaste.

Draught at Magnolia Brewpub on Haight St. in San Francisco, July 2008. Cask. In the glass: orange/gold with a small head, aromas of pine, then citrus and peach in the hops. Nice and bitter.

Tried both the cask ale and standard draft varieties at Magnolia Pub and Brewery. This was my first time trying a cask ale and was pleasantly surprised. Both varieties were good but the cask ale had a mellower flavor and a smoother, creamier mouthfeel. Good amount of hops present, but a nice balance with the sweetness from the malts.
