Commercial Description:

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

Huge grapefruit and flowers hop nose. So much resin the beer looks oily. Over 100 IBUs for a regular Ipa with boatloads of dry hopping. Light maris Otter english malt nose that is great with the west coast hop presence.

Tap. Light reddish golden ale with a nice floral hops aroma. Good floral hops and subdued malts. Very organic, with an oily mouthfeel. Good body. (June 2004).

On Tap- Toronado. Poured pretty pale with a slight white head. Almost no orange at all. Faint hop aroma. Flavor was dominated by a sweet maltiness with no real aftertaste. Probably better than anything I could brew but not a great IPA in my opinion.

Cask at Magnolia Pub and Brewery, San Francisco. 6.9% ABV (the draught version was 7.0% ABV!!!).
Hazy amber orange beer with an airy white head. Very hoppy and nutty aroma, quite full and delicious. Extremely bitter and little flowery flavor. Maybe the most hoppy beer I have ever had (and I have tried most of the big ones!!), this is like hop-extract! Notes of nuts and caramel also. A very nice and interesting beer!

(cask) Nice orange gold with a surprising amount of white head for a cask ale. Nice lace. Very hoppy, but surprisingly balanced.

Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral and fruity. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are floral and citrusy. Kind of juicy. Sharp and crisp. Medium bitterness, which is surprising as it supposed to be 100 IBU. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Medium orange/red. Very sharp nose, bitter flavor... strong wood and hoppy profile. Excellent fresh hop finish, very good.
