Commercial Description:

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

(On tap) Clear, pale, amber golden with a dense, off-white head. Discreetly citric nose. Fairly full-bodied with some caramel malt and then extreme accents of pine - this is almost resinated! Dry and bitter finish. 210307

Draught at the brewpub. Lightly hazy golden, minimal head. Hoppy peachy apricot and lychee aroma. Medium bodied with dense mouthfeel. Salty and fryuty with chewy malt and long bitter finish. A solid IPA.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 10/10/2008 Very fruity and hoppy aroma. Golden coloured and hoppy with some alcohol present. A little bitterness in a crisp slightly dry and creamy finish.

Tap@Magnolia Pub and brewery, San Fransisco. Cascade and pine are the main flavours, typical US pale in many ways, some sweetness at the start finish dry and medium bitter. Not too bad, decent balance.

Medium orange/red. Very sharp nose, bitter flavor... strong wood and hoppy profile. Excellent fresh hop finish, very good.

I was surprized that this was at the Day of the Living Ales 2009, held at Goose island Wrigleyville, Chicago. Why? Because it was definitely off, and I can’t see any brewery intentionally presenting itself this way. It had a brown body that was light enough to almost appear yellow, topped by a wispy little head. It had a strong butterscotch aroma "balanced" by an herbal bitterness. The flavor was much the same, some pine perhaps being added to the blend. I had this early on at the festival and my taste buds were still fairly alive at the time... This was just wrong.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy floral aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter flavor. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish with a bitter aftertaste.

Tap. Light reddish golden ale with a nice floral hops aroma. Good floral hops and subdued malts. Very organic, with an oily mouthfeel. Good body. (June 2004).
