Commercial Description:

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

Moderately hazy light orange color, slightly carbonated. Aroma is of hop citrus, taste is WOW orange, grapefruit, mouth-puckering sweet bitter finish.

a beautiful looking golden color with a soft white head, there was a wheat flavor that mellowed out the hops that were strongly forced, a very well balanced beer especially for an ipa

Cask at Magnolia Pub and Brewery, San Francisco. 6.9% ABV (the draught version was 7.0% ABV!!!).
Hazy amber orange beer with an airy white head. Very hoppy and nutty aroma, quite full and delicious. Extremely bitter and little flowery flavor. Maybe the most hoppy beer I have ever had (and I have tried most of the big ones!!), this is like hop-extract! Notes of nuts and caramel also. A very nice and interesting beer!

On tap, at the brewpub. Dark yellow, small white head. Lots of fresh pine and tree like hops in strong aroma. Very pine/floral hops in taste - no citrus, no fruit, all pine - quite nice. Strong and substantial malt base on a light to medium body - well balanced. Short finish. Not complex, but balanced and excellent.

The aroma is fantastic, off the scales. The beer comes in at 140 IBU, according to the bartender. However, the taste pales in comparison to the wonderful aroma. Buy it to smell it.

Medium orange/red. Very sharp nose, bitter flavor... strong wood and hoppy profile. Excellent fresh hop finish, very good.

Cask Conditioned version Aroma: Cascade hops are wonderfully dominant Apparance: Golden yellow with white head and some haze which may be from the dry-hopping Flavor: The malt is soft and round while the hops have a bright citrusy and delicious Palate: The soft malt balances the drying finish of the hops Overall: I preferred the cask version over the one draft. I love the soft round malt profile which support the pine like, grapefruity hoppy character... lovely If you like the finish, try the draft version which is more carbonated and served colder than the one on cask
