DrBayern (975), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Aug 19, 2006 I don’t know what possessed me to buy this, a lager from India??!! Maybe demons possessed me. At least I had the presence of mind to only buy one. Maybe I was thinking that the British might have brought some of their beer making skills along while India was still a colony, but then of course, they wouldn’t have taught them how to make a lager. The bottle says it was brewed ’with technical expertise of Belgian brewers." Right - I suspect maybe some Belgian tourists might have given them some advice, but that’s about it. Anyway, this stuff is a clear pale yellow with a fleeting small white head. A little grassiness in the aroma, but not much else. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Do I detect some sweetness from corn or rice? No, it can’t be!!! Just kind of peters out in a nondescript finish. I had this after I had been working outside all day. I’m glad, because I don’t think I could have tolerated it on any other occasion.
dwyerpg (2092), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 26, 2008 A pretty malty aroma; grassy. This isn’t too bad. Crisp, with some malt and dryness in the flavor. A good lasting dry finish. nearbeer (1317), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 26, 2008 330 ml bottle, mfd. 05/2005, batch 93. Topaz with a lasting eight-inch of cream. Aroma of spicy caramel and brown sugar reminds me of a Belgian dubbel. Initial flavor is similar, with a nicely developing bitterness on subsequent sips that turns woody then citrus and finally leathery-earthy. Light body is both smooth and tingly with a nice drying quality, although the sweet malt lingers in the aftertaste. I doubt that this one was intended for consumption almost 3-1/2 years after bottling, but it really developed into a nice beer that resembles a mild Belgian ale. radagast83 (1071), Springfield, Virginia, USA Sep 23, 2008 12 oz bottle at Indian Restaurant. Pretty much exactly what I expected. A non-offensive, pale lager. Not skunked. More malted than most international lagers I’ve had. ucusty (1201), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 31, 2008 Pale yellow pour with a fizzy white head. Grassy hops on the nose. Thin bodied. Slightly sour upfront, with grainy finish BlackDonald (1039), North Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2008 Has a pretty big nose, not what I was expecting. Sour fruit, a bit of dough, corn and sweet grain. Light buttery maltiness, and honestly not very enjoyable, even when really cold.
