Mahrs Bräu Bock-Bier

Aroma gives mainly sweetish, lightly bready malts, with a little grasys hops in there. Taste is similar more hop character than expected. Alright wee beer could do with being sweeter for a bock.

500 mL (i think) tall bottle. pours with a bit of sediment which floats around a slightly-darker-than-straw colored liquid. smells grainy and sweet, clean and more sweetness. a beautifully-executed bock, which i have come to expect of mahr’s - this is a textbook example of the style, flawless really! if you like bocks, do what you can to get a hold of this.

Bottled. An old gold coloured lager with a small white head. The aroma is thin with just a little sweet malt. The taste is nice and thick with good alcohol notes and a nice sweet maltiness. Very tasty just needs a better nose.

Bottle. Deep black color but no head. Caramel and sugary aroma. Taste is sugary, molasses and fruis (black berries) very nice palate and high carbonation. Bière de couleur noire opaque mais, aucune mousse. Odeur de caramel et de sucre. Au goût, elle est sucré, mélasse et fruité (baie rouge). C’est une bière assez spécial et au goût complexe, je ne suis pas un expert en bock mais c’est l’une des meilleur bock que j’aie bu jusqu’à maintenant. Dégusté à L’estaminet,Rivière-du-loup.

Pale yellow colour. Caramel, apple, peach, tobacco, coriander, biscuit and spice aroma; bitter/sweet taste with tobacco, fruit, brandy and honey aromas; very bitter finish with toffee, biscuit, spice and pepper aromas. The definition of a pale bock - very bitter, but with underlying fruity sweetness. An unbelievably complex beer. The bitter finish hangs around in the mouth for a week or two. One of the best beers I’ve ever drunk and definitely the best beer in this style I’ve had. Simply wonderful.

Poured golden with a thin white head. Short retention. Aromas of caramel, honey, herbs and grain. Touch of white wine in the taste along with the mainly honey and caramel flavors. A nice version of a style I’m not that familiar with yet.

500ml bottle. Hazy gold w/ no head. Aromas of hay, grain, fruits, hops, carmel...intriguing aroma that is fairly potent, but I wonder if the relative stillness of the beer is holding it back from literally jumping out of the glass. Drinks w/ a malty sweetness that is pronounced...accented by some hop spice and some yeasty fruitiness. This is a great session Bock, even for warm weather drinking it is good. It is a bit sweet and full-bodied, but that is its charm and I really enjoy it.

On tap (@ Mahrs Bräu Bamberg): Deep golden coloured, stable fluffy white head; sweet malty and a bit yeasty nose, some traces of alcohol; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, quite full bodied; slightly alcoholic finish with some distinctive bitterness. A decent, tasty Bock !
