Overly malty and sweet, a medium to full body helles bock with a hint of crispy bitterness. This is too sweet for me! But nevertheless enjoyable with a good raw-sheep milk cheese (Ossau-Iraty)! jeffc666 (1891), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

I saw this one at a local shop and thought it looked like something I have never had, but no. Anyhooow I might as well re-rate it. Beauitful pourclear sparkling light copper with a large lasting sea foam head. The aroma is straight forward pale malt with light spiciness. The flavor starts out good, firm malts some comploex sweetness but then things go a bit awry a load of bitterness that is totally unexppected ina bock is followed by some plastic flavors. To be fair the bottle is at least 8 months old at this poiint but my previous rate was a 2.9 with a fresh bottle. Oh well. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Floral aroma. Very pronounced sweetness to the flavor. Smoothly sweet from a nice level of malt balance. I’m not sure what makes this a winter bock, but it certainly is delicious. UPDATE 11/2006: I still like it, but just not at a 4.0 fondness as before. Dirty dishpan brown in color. Good caramel aroma, maybe a woody smell as well. Great chocolate sweetness. A good rich palate. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2005 Had about 1/3 of a 16 oz bottle. Didn’t look like what I expected it would. Head was really thick and puffy. A tasty treat for wintry days Drew (2409), Kent, Ohio, USA

This was pretty much a maibock - I was expecting a heavy dark monster, but this is a shiny golden sugary peppermill. Copper gold, short fluffy head full of huge bubbles, some lacing. Smelled sweet and some hops. Sweet medium thick malty body with a nice dirty pepper zap at the end to clean up that sugary stuff. Better than I expected it to be! caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
