| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2005 Had about 1/3 of a 16 oz bottle. Didn’t look like what I expected it would. Head was really thick and puffy. A tasty treat for wintry days Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2005 Yay! This was pretty much a maibock - I was expecting a heavy dark monster, but this is a shiny golden sugary peppermill. Copper gold, short fluffy head full of huge bubbles, some lacing. Smelled sweet and some hops. Sweet medium thick malty body with a nice dirty pepper zap at the end to clean up that sugary stuff. Better than I expected it to be! caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2005 Surprising golden color with orange tint, slightly cloudy. Average head. Caramel aroma. Sweet malt flavor. Overall not a bad brew, but neither will I be waiting in anticipation for next year. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 30, 2004 I first had this last week on draft at my bosses’ house. It was a late night pint, or maybe half-pint; nevertheless, I was not all that impressed. I opened a bottle last night and again I was under-whelmed.
Poured a bright copper body and a fluffy ivory head. The aroma and flavor brought a sweet, and lightly toasted suggestion of caramel, buttered toast, honey and a hint of molasses. The brew was rather fruity: apples, plums, and even some sweet raisins. The one thing that turned me off was the hoppy bite in the finish… it seemed somewhat astringent and unnecessary. The palate was soft and oily…. With no big complaints other than the finish. It’s just not my kind of brew!

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 28, 2004 Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (bread), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with light notes of DMS and alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly/moderately alcoholic. A little rough/husky/alcoholic, but ok. Unclear what about this is Christmas-like, other than the label. guzzler67 (1289), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2004 Hazy amber appearance with a medium sized head. Muted aroma of caramel malt and some spices. Medium-bodied, slightly sweet and lightly hopped. Taste was a little bitter with a dry, short lived finish. More like a marzen than a real good bock.
