Commercial Description:
Weisse Bock is an increasingly popular style that is strong and very tasty – with all of the fruity, spicy flavors one expects from a wheat beer, and more – but never too heavy on the palate. This rich, dark, and enthralling Bock is refreshing and drinks so easily that one would never suspect that it weighs in at 7.2% a.b.v. If you appreciate Aventinus, try Der Weisse Bock.

[bottle] Sweet wheat and winey grape aroma. Flavors are very interesting- surprisingly tart, almost sour grapes. With dark, dried fruits low in the background. Very complex flavors. Finishes with some nice wheat and mild spices. An impressive brew.

Huge, foamy, out of control head... murky dark reddish-brown color. Malty and citrusy aroma with hints of spiciness, banana and dried fruits. The predominantly citric acidity is balanced by flavors of malt, wheat, roasted grains, some hints of spiciness (clove, nutmeg) and banana. I loved the bubbly carbonation. Really good brew.

(Bottled, Akkurat, Stockholm, 18 July) Colour is dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is malty with chocolate, dried fruit (raisins, prunes) and some caramel. A bit lactic, almost sourish. Taste is malty with chocolate, vanilla, banana, cocoa. Complex. Smooth mouthfeel. Tasted it blind and my guess would have been a double bock. Thanks to Rille. Nice beer.

50cl bottle. Deep murky russet, quarter-inch beige head. Tantalizing bouquet of tart raisin, plum, chocolate, caramel, licorice, cherry. As the beer warms, additional aromas arise: strawberry, pomegranate, sherry, chianti, leather. Equally delicious flavors of tootsie roll, fruit (grape & cherry), dark rum, molasses, and chocolate. Delightful palate is a contrast of thick creaminess and almost fizzy carbonation. Rather abrupt finish. Mild aftertaste suggestive of cocoa powder, herbs (fresh oregano?), citrus. Fantastic and complex.

Bottle from the brewery. Spicy aroma, lots of phenolics - clove black pepper, a little licorice, also dark fruit, caramel, bread. Cloudy brown color, dense beige head. Lots of spice in the flavor, moderate banana, nice toasty malt in the background. Medium-full body, pretty high carbonation, very easy to drink. Good weizenbock, not as heavy or rich as Aventinus, easier drinking.

Draught at Cambridge Beer Festival. Rather muddy, mid brown colour. Like the other German beer on tap it was served rather too cold, hence the aroma was somewhat muted. Loads of banana, clove and vanilla on the palate. Sweet and sour finish. Not a particualrly "big" weizenbock. Smooth and easy drinking. .Not bad.

Draught - Cambridge BF. A hazy dark brown coloured beer. The aroma is packed with banana and there’s some toffee too. The taste is more big banana and toffee with good alcohol notes. It is full-bodied and a bit spritzy. Good enough.

Draught at Cambridge Beer Festival 2006. Served too cold. Murky brown colour with a tin white head. Sweet, malty beer with lots of banana and a rich, full body. Interesting but not outstanding.
