Commercial Description:
Weisse Bock is an increasingly popular style that is strong and very tasty – with all of the fruity, spicy flavors one expects from a wheat beer, and more – but never too heavy on the palate. This rich, dark, and enthralling Bock is refreshing and drinks so easily that one would never suspect that it weighs in at 7.2% a.b.v. If you appreciate Aventinus, try Der Weisse Bock.

Hazy brown hue, with a frothy tan-colored head, with a good malty, spicy character, note of apple and cinnamon, clove, fruity notes of dark fruits, dates, raisins, figs, touch of caramel malt, brown sugar and a yeasty aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, caramelized malt, mild chocolatey note, fruity, raisiny, with also figs, spicy, clove well yeasty accent, leading towards a sweet dry acidic finish. Very close to an aventinus

Pours dark brown with ruby hues and a massive foamy tan head. Aroma of figs, clove, dark fruit, and apples. Taste is spicy, bready, and yeasty. Finishes on a sweet clove note. Quite mellow for the alcohol content. Very fruity.

Brown pour with a large head into my new Corsendonk Xmas Ale glass. So it’s’ the wrong glass style - sue me. Banana aroma. Caramel and chocolate hints there as well. Caramel really comes through in the flavor. Enjoyable but lacks complexity.

Bottle: Strong banana, moderate apple, and light yeast aromas. Pours a dark brown with some orange hilights along the outside edges of the glass. Nice off-white head with great retention. Up front flavors of apple, banana, and light caramel. Finishes with some yeastiness and a light lemony tartness.

0.5l bottle. Brownish, with a huge tan head. Clovey slightly banana-like aroma. Malty flavors, rich. Slightly clove-like. Smooth. Slightly tart. Malt lingers in the finish. Munich malt notes are strong.

Thanks to Tom Baker at heavyweight for this one. Pours a deep amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is similar to aventinus but not nearly as intense. Good amount of banana, fusel alcohols, and some pheonics like clove, but also has that traditional fruity and deep malt backbone. Flavor was a bit of a let-down. Not very complex- bland and watered down a bit. Mouthfeel was also light for the style especially compared to schneider.

08.06.05 500ml bottle. Dark caramel color. Subdued banana and rice crispy treat aroma, not much spice, if any. Bit tart, but refreshing, mildly effy. Roasty. Hard beer to figure out.

Remarkably tart. Think that this was provided by the yeast and if perhaps something was beginning to go awry, it was doing so in a beautiful manner. I didn’t get the banana esters and such that I might have expected, but the malt was fine and I trly enjoyed this. Rasins for sure. Maybe it was/is me that’s off kilter, but not a lot I can do about that. And I absolutely love the label art.
