Commercial Description:
Weisse Bock is an increasingly popular style that is strong and very tasty – with all of the fruity, spicy flavors one expects from a wheat beer, and more – but never too heavy on the palate. This rich, dark, and enthralling Bock is refreshing and drinks so easily that one would never suspect that it weighs in at 7.2% a.b.v. If you appreciate Aventinus, try Der Weisse Bock.

Remarkably tart. Think that this was provided by the yeast and if perhaps something was beginning to go awry, it was doing so in a beautiful manner. I didn’t get the banana esters and such that I might have expected, but the malt was fine and I trly enjoyed this. Rasins for sure. Maybe it was/is me that’s off kilter, but not a lot I can do about that. And I absolutely love the label art.

WOW… this is a terrific beer! Pours a hazy coco brown and a lasting khaki head. The flavor and aroma are delicate yet dominating! There is a wonderful earthy complexity to this master opus. Notes of chocolate and toffee are candid at every encounter. Hints of brown sugar, banana and raisin are recessed by a yeasty breadyness… pumpernickel and damp bundled wheat… old burlap. A striking spicy finish of cracked black pepper and spruce logs find their way into the wrapping up. This beer is simply straightforward and satisfying from beginning to end!
- Mahr’s very best offering, IMO!

Malty and spicy aroma with figs and a mild spice. Dirty brown color with a fast fading head. Sweetness in the fore of stewed prunes that fades into an almost carbonationless malt finish.

Hazy, dark brown pour with huge, creamy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, figs, wheat, corn flakes. Nice, complex aroma. Tastes caramel malty, with a firm, wheaty, fruity finish. Complex, dense, fruity palate, with some spices and cognac as it warms. This one reminds me a lot of Westy 12.

Dark orange, almost amber body. Aroma of almonds and a hint of citrus based cleaner. There is also a little bit of spice of clove. The taste begins a littel tart with some apples and caramel. There is also some cobwebs here. Surprisingly sweet after the tartness.

Dark malt aroma, some chocolate and wheat, a bit vegetal. Nice tongue coating mouth feel. Caramalts and wheat, a touch sticky. Tiny hint of cola, appley. This one seems a bit unfocused compared to the other Mahr’s beers i’ve had. Somehow at the same time neither bocky nor wheaty enough for my tastes.
